Minor Rockets Start Season Strong


The Okanagan Rockets Minor Midgets opened the 2019-20 season and their defence of the the League and Championship banners with a road trip up to Prince George to play the host Cariboo Cougars Minor Midget team.

Game 1 the Rockets started slowly after opening the scoring. The Cougars pounced on two power play opportunities to lead 2-1 after twenty. But the lead was short and the Rockets came out in the second and third and took it to the host team and came away with a 6-2 victory, outshooting the Cougars 34-19. Ethan Reynaud was in net for the victory and was solid.

Sunday and Game 2 was a different story as the Rockets came out on all cylinders, and although it took them a period to get to the Cougars starting goalie they ended up dominating the hosts and came away with a convincing 8-0 win, outshooting them 62-7. Wilson Maxfield earner the whitewash between the pipes. Top scorers this weekend were Austin Roest 8pts and Carter Schmidt 7pts over the weekends.

The Rockets host the Valley West Giants next weekend.
